Sydney McQuade Otto       bronze renderings & interpretation

CV/Bio

Sydney received her first set of oil paints at the age of seven, a gift from her dad. A trail of art classes dotted her childhood from that point on; private classes with local and regional artists, museum offerings and weekend classes for children.

It was in high school that Sydney first fell in love with the sculptural process.  Her education, however, was to take her in many directions. She worked in oils and acrylics, studied graphic design, typography and pen & ink.

In 1992, she met Jane B. Armstrong, noted stone sculptor. It was then that Sydney’s passion for sculpture was rekindled. Since that meeting, she has filled countless sketchbooks with her figures that flow, translating them into clay and subsequent bronze renderings rich with emotion.

Sydney’s first show was in 1995 at the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont.

Sydney now lives and works happily in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Pencil and paper are her constant companions.
